Week 1: my mum's visit

Did everyone notice that the snail finally made it down to zero in its 6month (+) countdown? Well, my mum is here! Due to the Dutch efficiency in processing people at the airport, she arrived and we were not there waiting. How bad is that?.. but we were not far away.

We went straight to the airport semi-Irish bar for Big Beers (see photos).

As I had an exam yesterday, my time has been divided between "fun" things in the afternoons and "study" in the mornings. Not ideal, but it sort of worked. I had my exam yesterday so now 85% of my time is free for the next week and a half of my mum's stay (I still have to do some research stuff). What have we done?

• mum's been on a bike riding a few times!!! (she worked out that its been 20 odd years since she was last on a pushbike)
• drinking beers (trying all the fancy beers from 5% to 9% alcohol content)
• dinner in the dark restaurant (yep, you eat in the dark trying to get stuff on your fork and then get that into your mouth without either stabbing yourself in the cheek or having everything fall off the fork)
• walking around
• hanging around
• visiting Martijns family

Yep, the usual sort of stuff.
