2010 didn't start well. Melbourne is no place to be on new years day. My dream of a soy cappucino, newspaper and brunch somewhere in one of the many alley cafes was killing the mood. Obviously it is not possible to have such a dream as this on a public holiday in Melbourne. Almost nothing was open. The only cafes/restaurants that were open were the larger ones (i.e. no atmosphere) and they were charging a surcharge of 15%.I had to drop that dream and settle for a surcharge and a bowl of fruit.
The highlight of the day came from meeting up with a friend for dinner. We went back to the same Indian restaurant as the night before. This time we ate inside and the thunderstorm came in on the way to the airport. Our flight was not delayed.
Next stop, a tropical island in Malaysia on the way back to NL.
